Being a heritage property there are some restrictions within Athelhampton House for those who are in a wheelchair. The rooms other than the Ground Floor rooms, The Great Hall, Great Chamber, King’s Ante Room, Red Passage and Dining Room remain accessible and our helpful stewards will happily assist and show you images of other rooms.
Disabled Visitors
To make entry into the House from the visitor centre the path is of hard standing gravel, and is easy under foot or wheel. A small step up into the porch and down into the house needs to be made, however we have ramps for those in wheelchairs which can be deployed by our staff.
The Gardens have some steps, but we provide a Map of Access which indicates each obstacle so that you can plan an alternative route to maximise your day with us.
Athelhampton welcomes the disabled visitor, we work hard to ensure that your needs are recognised and catered for.
Athelhampton offers a range of benefits for the disabled visitor, from artifacts around the house and garden that are tactile for those who are blind, to easily accessible toilets facilities, a shop, bar and restaurant on on one level for those with mobility problems.
