Events

Athelhampton holds a range of events throughout the year. Our Annual MG Rally makes a great sunday out. We offer outdoor theatre in August, our friends at Owermoigne Flower Club use the house to stage their annual flower show. We will once again be the host for the Dorset Food Festival this winter.

We often host one-off events on behalf of different groups, If you have an event you would like to discuss with us then we would be delighted to speak with you.

Outdoor Theatre 2018 - Little Women

Outdoor Theatre 2018 – Little Women

Athelhampton House & Gardens

Each year we look for experienced travelling theatre groups to perform in the gardens at Athelhampton. A warm summer evening usually welcomes the 300 or so people who come to see an outdoor theatre production.

The stage is set in front of the house, and guests bring their own low backed seating or picnic blankets. Picnics are welcomed and hot drinks are for sale at the bar.

For 2018, Chapterhouse Theatre Company is proud to present the timeless story of Little Women, based on the classic novel by Louisa May Alcott. Join Chapterhouse as four sisters – Jo, Beth, Meg and Amy – tell the story of their life during the Civil War in America. It is a story full of romance, love, passion, friendship; a story where hope will always outdo heartache and hardship if you just have the courage to follow your dreams. The tale of these four sisters is brought to life in a brand-new adaptation from Chapterhouse, featuring glorious period costume, traditional live music and a story of self-discovery to warm your heart.

Gates open at 6.00pm, performance starts at 7.30pm. There is an intermission.

The performance will go ahead in all but extreme weather conditions, such as thunder and lightning. Please bring umbrella’s and warm clothing if the weather is not looking too pleasant on the evening.
