Bridal designer Phillipa Lepley has predicted the top wedding dress trends for 2015, with classic, timeless styles continuing to be fashionable next year. Having designed dresses for a number of celebrities and members of high society, she has revealed what she believes which materials, styles and colours be popular in the year to come.
Lace will very much continue to be in demand, according to Phillipa, as it is an incredibly beautiful and flattering material following classic bridal tradition. The lace dress has soared in popularity especially since the wedding of Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge, where Kate Middleton wore a perfectly executed dress which combined the best of traditional and modern styles, with the lace details of the dress especially admired by onlookers.
Satin dresses are also expected to be just as popular, offering a clean and simple alternative to the detail of lace and offering another level of radiance to the bride wearing it.
In terms of styles and shapes, full skirt styles such as the ‘umbrella’ skirt will feature heavily as a wedding dress trend, creating a look reminiscent of classic fairy-tale princesses such as Cinderella.
She also predicts that brides will opt for colours besides the classic white or ivory for the dress, with people experimenting with light, yet feminine, colours such as creams and dusky pinks, sometimes in combination with the classic white as an underlayer. These colours add a modern twist on the wedding dress yet still create a beautiful and feminine style.
