The most expensive celebrity wedding cakes

Most of us dream of our special day including country house wedding venues and extravagant wedding cakes, but our budgets mean that we often fall short. While Athelhampton House solves the problem of providing the perfect manor house wedding venue at a reasonable cost, we can still only aspire to have wedding cakes like these celebrities did:

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West
Carrying a price tag of £4000, this enormous seven-tier seven foot wedding cake had to be carried by three people inside the wedding venue. Despite their well-known extravagance, the design was relatively simple – a simple fruit cake covered in all-white frosting. This gigantic cake was just the tip of the iceberg for this grand wedding, which spanned over several days and several countries.
Prince William and Kate Middleton
With the whole world watching, William and Kate’s wedding had to be the perfect wedding, from the dress to the cake. The result was one of the most expensive celebrity wedding cakes ever, ringing in at $80,000. The eight-tiered fruit cake was coated in white icing and adorned with 900 sugar paste flowers. With the English rose, Scottish thistle, Welsh daffodil and Irish shamrock decorating the seventh tier to celebrate the UK’s home nations, this cake symbolises a truly British wedding.
Donald Trump and Melania Knauss
Business tycoon Trump knew that he wanted only the best for his wedding to Melania, and his grand wedding cake certainly came close to that. Weighing in an almighty 200lbs, this seven-tiered cake was filled with Grand Marnier buttercream filling and decorated with 3000 white icing roses. Alongside this extravagant centrepiece, guests were also given individual cakes with a luxurious chocolate truffle filling.
Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones
This Sylvia Weinstock-designed cake was perfectly fitting for the acting couple’s high-profile wedding, costing around $7000 and coming in at over six feet tall. The ten-tier cake was so high that the top two tiers had to be removed just to fit the cake through the doorway. Adorned with sugar flowers and flavoured with vanilla and buttercream, the cake set an example for other celebrity weddings to come.
